Description

“Sous la Velle” is Le Grappin’s Meursault, grown on clay-limestone soils 50 to 70 centimeters deep over pebbled limestone. Andrew Nielsen pressed it for a shorter time than his other cuvées to keep the acidity. 760 bottles were made.

The clay shows in the wine. It has more weight and less of the stony edge you find in other Meursault, and the tasting note we have describes it as serious, with substantial flesh and structure and a faint whiff of rosewater.

Andrew and Emma Nielsen founded Le Grappin in 2011. They source from the same organically farmed single parcels every year, work without additions, and bottle everything by hand. Named one of The 10 Best Unsung Burgundy Producers by Wine-Searcher.
