The Cote de Nuits produces some of the most sought-after wines in the world. It is almost exclusively planted with Pinot Noir, with a few exceptions such as smaller patches in Morey-Saint-Denis and Musigny Blanc from Chambolle-Musigny and a few patches of Gamay and Aligoté planted east of the Route des Grands Crus.
From North to South, the Cote de Nuits comprises of the following vineyards: Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
