Description

The wine

Marsannay sits at the very northern tip of the Côte de Nuits and remains one of the best-kept secrets in Burgundy for anyone seeking village-level quality at a fraction of the price of Gevrey-Chambertin or Vosne-Romanée. This village rouge is the natural introduction to what Charlopin-Tissier does — and it delivers far more than its appellation suggests.

Organically farmed, hand-harvested, and fully destemmed, the grapes undergo a cold maceration before fermentation with native yeasts — a process designed to preserve freshness and fruit purity. The wine ages slowly on fine lees before bottling without filtration. A Marsannay that tastes like Marsannay — honest, precise, and genuinely satisfying at its price.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby. Fresh cherries, raspberry, and violet on the nose with a whisper of spice and a hint of cool mineral earthiness — the aromatic freshness that defines northern Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir. The palate is silky and transparent with fine-grained tannins and the cool, precise acidity that is Marsannay’s signature. Light to medium body, clean finish, no heaviness. The kind of Burgundy that doesn’t ask much of you — open it, pour it, enjoy it. Drink now through 2030.

Service: 16°C. Charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled salmon, soft cheeses, mushroom dishes.

2022 vintage note

2022 was a warm, generous vintage across the Côte de Nuits — excellent growing conditions producing wines of exceptional fruit clarity and smooth tannin structure. For a village Marsannay the vintage adds weight and ripeness that makes this an immediately approachable bottle. Drink now through 2030.
