The Wine
Almost everyone who knows Domaine Buisson-Battault knows it for its white wines — the Vieilles Vignes, the Premier Crus, the Aligoté. The Bourgogne Rouge is the wine is from Pinot Noir grown in three Meursault lieu-dits: Les Vaux, Sous la Velle, and Montaine. Vines ranging from 17 to 50 years old. Hand-harvested, hand-sorted, destemmed, and vatted for around two weeks before ageing one year in French oak (10% new), then two months in tank.
The result is a Bourgogne Rouge that tastes like it comes from somewhere specific — because it does. Bright red fruit, smooth tannins, clean and precise. The kind of village-level Burgundy that makes the appellation worth exploring.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby with garnet edges. Red cherry, cranberry, a hint of violet and mineral earthiness on the nose — more restrained and precise than the warmer 2022. The palate is leaner and more focused with fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a clean mineral finish that reflects the clay-limestone soils of the Meursault lieu-dits. More demanding than the 2022 but more rewarding with time. Drink now through 2028.

2021 Vintage
2021 was a difficult vintage — frost and disease dramatically reduced yields across the Côte de Beaune. The wines that came through show real concentration and character. The 2021 Bourgogne Rouge is leaner and more mineral than the 2022 — more demanding, more rewarding with time. Drink 2024–2028.
