Description

The Wine

Yann Charlopin is known for his reds. This Bourgogne Côte d’Or Blanc is the domaine’s regional white, made from old Chardonnay vines on clay and limestone. The vineyards are farmed organically and picked selectively. The grapes are destemmed and pressed directly, fermented with native yeasts, and aged 16 months on fine lees in 400-liter barrels, less than 20% of them new.

It sits below the domaine’s top white, the Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru ‘Sous Frétille’, which makes this a good place to see how Yann works with Chardonnay.

Yann Charlopin and Justine Tissier trained at the wine school in Beaune and made their first harvest in 2013. Yann worked with Jean-Marie Fourrier, and his father, Philippe Charlopin, studied under Henri Jayer.
