Description
The wine
This is Charlopin-Tissier’s Bourgogne Côte d’Or Rouge, the domaine’s entry point. Where Montre Cul comes from a single named plot in Marsannay, this wine is made from vineyard sites located on the Côte de Nuits.
Yann Charlopin and Justine Tissier founded the domaine in 2013. They farm just over four hectares across Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, and a parcel in Clos Vougeot, and the winery is now in Gevrey-Chambertin. Yann trained with Jean-Marie Fourrier, and his father Philippe studied under Henri Jayer.
The farming is organic and the harvest is by hand. The grapes are fully destemmed and given a cool pre-fermentation maceration, then fermented spontaneously. The wine ages 18 months on fine lees in 228-liter barrels, mostly from François Frères, with less than 20% new oak.
It’s the most affordable way to learn the domaine’s style, and the right place to start before the village wines from Marsannay.

2023 vintage note
2023 was a warm year across the Côte de Nuits with a large crop. Growers who thinned their vines made reds with supple tannins and freshness despite the heat. Picking began in early September, under a heatwave, and most fruit was in before the end of the month. For a Bourgogne at this level, it makes an approachable bottle.
Yann Charlopin founded Domaine Charlopin-Tissier in 2013 — son of Philippe Charlopin, mentored by Jean-Marie Fourrier. Organic farming, fully destemmed, cold maceration, no filtration. The wines appear on the lists of The French Laundry, Quince, SingleThread, and Les 110 de Taillevent in Paris.
