Description
A Bourgogne from the Côte de Nuits, made from old vines.
The vines for this wine are more than 35 years old and sit near Morey-Saint-Denis, the village where the Amiot family has been based since 1702. Léon Amiot represents the eleventh generation. The harvest is by hand, and fermentation is spontaneous with indigenous yeasts. The estate farms under High Environmental Value (HVE) certification and is experimenting with biodynamics and agroforestry.
In the glass, the 2022 is ruby red, with a fruity nose and plenty of freshness on the palate. It’s a Bourgogne made with the same care as the domaine’s village and Grand Cru wines, and the production is small. The Amiots make very little of it, so we ask for as much as they’ll give us.
The 2022 is sold out. If you’re looking for Amiot’s red Burgundy, you can also browse all of Domaine Amiot et Fils, or read about ten generations in Morey-Saint-Denis.
