Cornas is the most powerful and age-worthy appellation in the Northern Rhône — a small AC producing 100% Syrah from steep granite terraces above the village of the same name, south of Saint-Joseph on the west bank of the Rhône. The granite soils and the continental climate produce wines of exceptional concentration, mineral tension, and longevity — a completely different expression of Syrah from the warmer, more generous styles of the southern Rhône.

Mark Haisma makes Cornas alongside his Burgundy range — the same precision and minimal-intervention approach applied to a very different grape and terroir. His cellar in Gevrey-Chambertin is where both the Burgundy and the Rhône wines are made. Two vintages are available at Amitié — the 2022 and the 2021 — both from the same granite parcels in Cornas, both aged in old oak.
