A perpetual reserve — or réserve perpétuelle in French — is a winemaking method in which a portion of wine from each harvest is added to a continuously maintained reserve that is never fully drawn off. Each year’s new wine is blended with the accumulated reserve, creating a wine that contains threads of every previous harvest going back to the beginning.

The result is complexity and depth that a single-vintage wine cannot achieve — the base vintage provides freshness and energy, while the older reserve wines provide developed character, texture, and continuity across years. Hélène Charbaut’s La Charbauterie uses a perpetual reserve — 35% 2021 reserve wine maintained in both barrel and 25-hectolitre foudre. Adrien Renoir’s Les Années is built entirely on a solera — the most extreme form of perpetual reserve, drawing from consecutive harvests back to the beginning of the project.

Amitié Wines imports small-production Burgundy and Champagne directly from the family domaines that make them. Every wine is personally selected.
