Meursault has no Grand Cru — a historical quirk that means its finest vineyards are classified Premier Cru rather than at the highest level. This has kept Meursault Premier Cru prices below where the quality warrants, making it one of the most compelling value propositions in white Burgundy. The three most celebrated Premier Crus are Poruzots, Charmes, and Genevrières — each producing a distinct expression of what old-vine chardonnay on Meursault limestone achieves over time.

Poruzots sits on the upper slope — thinner soils, better drainage, the most mineral and precise of the three. Charmes produces the most generous and aromatic style from richer lower-slope soils. Genevrières sits between the two in character — richer than Poruzots, more structured than Charmes. All three reward five to ten years of patience from a serious vintage.

Domaine Buisson-Battault farms all three — a fifth-generation family in Meursault whose oldest vines were planted in 1927. Organically farmed throughout. HVE certified. On the lists of Michelin-starred restaurants throughout California.
