The Hautes Côtes de Beaune covers the higher plateau and valley land directly behind the famous Côte de Beaune slope — at greater elevation, with cooler temperatures and lighter soils than the celebrated villages below. The wines are lighter and more aromatic than their neighbours on the main slope, with a freshness and precision that reflects the altitude.

Le Grappin’s Hautes Côtes de Beaune Rouge ‘Aux Grandes Raies’ comes from the lieu-dit of the same name in Meloisey — directly above Beaune and the Premier Cru slope. 40-year-old Pinot Noir, whole cluster fermentation, 15 barrels made. Featured by Eric Asimov in The New York Times. The Du Grappin Bourgogne Aligoté comes from the lieu-dit of Mainbey in the commune of Fussey — high in the Hautes Côtes de Beaune behind Pernand-Vergelesses. Also featured by Eric Asimov in The New York Times.
