HVE — Haute Valeur Environnementale, or High Environmental Value — is a French agricultural certification awarded to farms that demonstrate exceptional environmental performance across four areas: biodiversity, plant protection, fertiliser management, and water management. It is a third-party verified certification rather than a self-declared label.
Domaine Buisson-Battault holds HVE certification across all 8.5 hectares in Meursault — an independent verification of the sustainable farming practices François Buisson has applied since taking over from his father. Champagne Pascal Lejeune in Moussy on the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay also carries HVE certification — among the first producers in Champagne to plant cover crops between vine rows.
