Premier Cru is the second-highest classification in Burgundy — applied to specific vineyard sites that consistently produce wine of superior quality within their village appellation. There are over 600 Premier Cru vineyard sites across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. In Champagne, Premier Cru refers to villages classified between 90% and 99% on the historic quality scale.
The Premier Cru wines on the Amitié list span both regions and both colours. In Burgundy: Domaine Amiot’s Les Millandes and both vintages of Les Combottes. Buisson-Battault’s Poruzots, Charmes, and Genevrières in Meursault. Mark Haisma’s Les Chaffots in Morey-Saint-Denis and En Caradeux Blanc in Pernand-Vergelesses. Le Grappin’s Boucherottes and Les Grèves Blanc in Beaune. In Champagne: Antoine Bouvet and Hélène Charbaut both farm exclusively in Premier Cru villages.
