Allocated Burgundy is wine imported in small quantities — not because of artificial scarcity but because the producers who make it farm a few hectares each and produce a few thousand bottles per cuvée at most. When Amitié imports these wines, the US allocation is a fraction of that already small production. Some wines sell through before the next vintage arrives. Others are gone within weeks of landing.
The wines currently available on the Amitié list represent what remains from recent shipments — personally selected on annual visits to each producer, organically farmed, imported directly from the cellar. When a wine sells out it does not always come back. Recent sell-outs from the Amitié list include the Buisson-Battault 2022 Meursault 1er Cru ‘Genevrières’, the Meursault 1er Cru ‘Goutte d’Or’ , and the Puligny-Montrachet ‘Les Charmes’ — and the Mark Haisma 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru ‘Fonteny.’ None are coming back until we import future vintages.
