The wines on the Amitié list that reward patience — Grand Cru and Premier Cru Burgundy from producers whose wines develop in bottle over years and decades. Age-worthy Burgundy is not simply expensive Burgundy — it is wine made from specific terroirs, with specific farming and winemaking practices, that produces a structure and complexity capable of evolving meaningfully in the cellar.
Domaine Amiot’s Clos de la Roche Grand Cru — three stars and coup de cœur from the Guide Hachette des Vins, Vigneron de l’Année 2026 — will develop through 2035 and beyond. Mark Haisma’s Clos Vougeot Grand Cru — Tim Atkin Top 25 — rewards five to ten years of patience. The Charlopin-Tissier Clos Vougeot Magnum in 1500ml format ages most slowly and most gracefully of all.
