Champagne is one of the most celebrated wine regions in the world — and one of the most misunderstood. Most of the Champagne consumed globally is produced by large négociant houses that buy grapes from hundreds of growers, blend across villages and vintages, and produce consistent, reliable wine in millions of bottles. It is a different product entirely from the small-production, terroir-specific wines made by the growers who farm their own vines.
At Amitié we import four family domaines from Champagne — each farming their own vineyards, making their own wine, and bottling under their own name. Champagne Pierre Deville in Grand Cru Verzy. Champagne Antoine Bouvet across three Premier Cru villages in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Bisseuil, and Avenay Val d’Or. Champagne Hélène Charbaut in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Bisseuil. Champagne Pascal Lejeune in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay. All are zero or low dosage. All use indigenous yeasts. All farm organically.
